     Attorney Carol North practices in the areas of divorce, family law and divorce mediation. Her focus is to meditate or litigate family law matters in a civil manner, and to provide affordable legal representation.  Clients are treated with integrity and respect for their needs, goals and objectives.

     Divorce mediation allows couples to determine support, property division, and child related issues between themselves in a non-confrontational manner with the assistance of a neutral mediator.  Mediated divorces often result in the parties having a better post-divorce relationship with each other than those couples who must submit their areas of disagreement to the Barnstable Probate Court to be decided by a Judge.  Engaging in divorce mediation gives the parties the opportunity to focus on their children and engage in mutual problem solving.  This allows the parties to avoid the acrimony that can occur when their divorce is taken out of their own control and left to lawyers and judges.

     While mediated divorces (and other family law matters) are more cost effective and faster than litigation, some couples are unable to resolve their divorce or family law matters via mediation.  For those clients needing litigation services, Attorney North makes every reasonable attempt to settle the client’s case via negotiation.   For those cases that cannot settle, the attorney will prepare the client for trial and other litigation related events, such as depositions, so that the client will be at ease and can clearly present their case to the Court.       

     Thoughtful and personalized legal services are provided to all clients, whether they are engaged in contested or mediated divorces or other family law matters.  Attorney North handles each case based on the specific needs of the clients, and works to resolve conflict rather than encourage costly litigation.  Attorney North is sensitive to the emotional and financial issues facing clients on Cape Cod who are dealing with the breakdown of their marriage, and each client is treated as an individual, not simply as a legal problem.

Attorney North’s office is conveniently located across from the Melody Tent in Hyannis, Massachusetts, providing easy access from the Mid-Cape Highway to all Cape Cod residents.
